Family and Community Peer Support Service

Parenting can be one of life’s most rewarding roles, but it can also be challenging. From time to time, every family may need extra support to navigate the ups and downs of family life. You are not alone, we are here to help.

Our new Family and Community Peer Support Service is available to expectant parents, new parents and parents of children aged up to five who live in Kingston Upon Hull. We offer practical, friendly support to help with everyday challenges and make family life feel more manageable.

We work alongside parents, carers and families, as well as local Family Hubs, midwifery services, health visitors, perinatal and SEND teams, Home-Start and other local services, to provide practical and emotional support. The support is for parents to be and partners and parents of babies and/or children aged 5 years old and under.

How we support parents

Our Family Support Coordinator and locally recruited volunteer peer supporters offer one-to-one support in your home, at community venues, by phone or through Microsoft Teams. They provide a listening ear, help ease the pressures of parenthood and support positive family relationships.

Our trained volunteers can help you with:

  • Building your confidence as a parent
  • Supporting your child’s learning and development
  • Bonding with your baby and developing a positive early parent–infant relationship
  • Connecting with other people and your local community
  • Creating a nurturing home environment
  • Building healthy family relationships
  • Supporting your emotional wellbeing
  • Working towards the goals that matter to you

Alongside one-to-one support, we welcome mums, dads, partners and carers to Coram Family Lives parenting and peer support groups. We can also connect you with other local services and resources.
